Electric Strikes

& Electromagnetic Locks

Electric strikes and electromagnetic (mag) locks are used in conjunction with access control systems such as card access, buzzer systems or proximity-locks.  Both work to ensure your access control system is as secure as it can be by making sure that those who aren't supposed to get in - don't.

Electric Strikes:

Electric strikes come in two functions:  Fail safe and Fail secure.  When in fail safe mode, an electric strike will unlock in the event of a power outage.  In fail secure mode, it would lock securely in the event of a power outage.  In this last case, egress must be made available in mechanical form - whether it is a lever, a handle or a panic bar.  We carry electric strikes for all types of doors and applications - contact us for more details or requests!

Mag Locks

Mag locks are always in fail safe mode.  An electromagnetic lock only works when power is supplied to it - but when it is working it cannot be mechanically overridden.  For this reason, it is important that the mag lock is properly connected to a fire alarm system with a pull station within a few feet to interrupt the power in case of emergency.
